Sodium Sulfate

Sodium sulfate (Na₂SO₄), commonly known as mirabilite (or sodium sulfate in anhydrous form), is a white crystalline solid, readily soluble in water, with a neutral aqueous solution. Its melting point is 884℃, and its density is 2.68 g/cm³. Industrially, it can be prepared through the reaction of sulfuric acid with sodium hydroxide, extraction from salt mines, etc. It is an important chemical raw material, widely used in glass manufacturing (flux), detergents (to enhance detergency), textile printing and dyeing (mordant), and also as a paper filler, leather processing aid, and pharmaceutical laxative.
